How to lock the iPad in kiosk mode?

Optimizing iPads for ideal patient experience: Updates, kiosk & landscape mode

Neurotone AI provides iPads to Lace AI Pro certified clinics to help patients understand the value of auditory training via a guided demo. Below are the directions for how to set up the iPads and optimize them for the best patient experience.

  • Connect each iPad to Wifi
  • Plug into power
  • Setting —>  General —> Software Updates to check for any updates and install
  • Lock iPad in landscape mode 
    • Open the Control Center by swiping down from the top right corner of the home screen
    • Make sure the rotation lock button is off
    • Turn the iPad into landscape (horizontal) position
    • Lock the rotation in the Control Center
    • Press the home button to exit the Control Center when complete
  • Enable iPad Kiosk Mode before handing out for patient use. This setting restricts the ability to access anything other than the Lace AI Pro patient demo.
    • Open the Settings app
    • Tap Accessibility > Guided Access
    • Flip the switch to turn on Guided Access
    • Enable Passcode Settings and select Guided Access Passcode
    • Enter passcode 000000
    • Exit settings
    • From the home screen, click on the Neurotone icon which launches the patient demo
    • Click Home Button 5 times 
    • Guided Access pops up, look on bottom left screen for Options
    • Options —> Volume Button toggled one
    • Press ‘Start’ to start Kiosk Mode (Guided Access Mode)
  • Prepare each iPad into kiosk mode
  • To turn off kiosk mode hit the Home button 5 times and enter passcode: 000000
    • Be sure to set it back into kiosk mode before distributing to the next patient
