Patient App: Bluetooth Audio Streaming with Lace

How to Stream Lace Audio to Your Bluetooth Hearing Aids on iOS and Android

1. Does Lace support Bluetooth audio streaming to hearing aids?

Yes. Lace follows your device’s system audio output. If your Bluetooth-compatible hearing aids are connected to your smartphone or tablet, Lace audio will stream to them automatically, just like music or videos.

2. Do I need to pair my hearing aids inside the Lace app?

No. Bluetooth pairing is handled by your phone or tablet’s system settings. Once your hearing aids are connected through iOS or Android settings, Lace will automatically use that connection.

3. I can stream music and calls to my hearing aids. Why isn't Lace working the same way?

Check these tips based on your device type:

iPhone/iPad (iOS):

  • Go to Settings → Accessibility → Hearing Devices to confirm pairing.

  • Use Control Center → AirPlay icon to route audio.

  • Ensure Low Power Mode is off, and you’re not connected to another Bluetooth device.

Android:

  • Go to Settings → Connected devices → Pair new device or use your brand's companion app.

  • Confirm that the Media Audio toggle is ON for your hearing aids in Bluetooth settings.

  • Restart your phone and hearing aids if connection is lost.

4. Why did Lace audio stream a few times, but not consistently?

Inconsistent Bluetooth performance is often related to:

  • Older hearing aid firmware or outdated phone operating systems

  • Competing Bluetooth connections (like car audio or smartwatches)

  • Low battery in either the hearing aids or the phone

Re-pairing your hearing aids and restarting your device can usually resolve this.

5. Is Lace compatible with all hearing aid brands?

Lace can stream audio to most modern Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids.

Note: Some older models support phone calls only, not full media streaming. Check with your audiologist or your hearing aid’s user guide for full streaming support.

6. What iOS and Android versions are supported?

  • iOS: We recommend iOS 17 or later for best performance. Some earlier versions (like iOS 13.x) may have limited support for newer hearing aids.

  • Android: Performance varies more widely. We recommend Android 11 or later, and encourage users to keep both the OS and hearing aid firmware updated.

7. Where can I learn how to pair my hearing aids?

Android:

Or check your hearing aid brand’s app.

8. Can I control audio output during training?

iOS: Swipe down → Control Center → Tap AirPlay icon → Choose hearing aids

Android: Swipe down → Tap the Audio Output or Media Output button → Select hearing aids
